Helping People Nationwide Find Meaning in the Everyday

Mundancing is the art of dancing through the mundane with presence, love, and joy.

ANCHORS AND WINGS: Insights from Moving House

Moving house arrives in boxes, bins, dust, and decisions.
As Gary and I pack one life and prepare to unpack another, I find myself reflecting not just on where we’re going—but on what we carry, what we release, and what it all says about who we are becoming.

Moving is more than a change of address—it’s a revelation.

It reveals what we collect, what we cling to, and what we’ve outgrown. It shows us how we organize our lives and how much we’re willing to let go. And it brings into sharp focus what we truly value.

What we hold onto holds onto us.

It can comfort, anchor, and preserve us.
But it can also weigh us down.

So we must ask, again and again—
Do I want to be anchored, or do I want to soar?

This move has become a lifestyle edit. I’ve looked at my tendencies—my quiet pack-rat inclinations—and asked:
Why do I keep this?
What does it say about what I treasure?

What I Keep, and Why

I keep wisdom.
Boxes of handwritten notes and notebooks from lectures, books, classes, and life itself.
I keep wisdom because I value learning and truth.

I keep love.
Stacks of handwritten letters and cards, faded with time but pulsing with connection. Old photos—some digitized, some kept in hand because being able to hold them matters.
I keep love because I cherish connection.

I keep creativity.
Drawings, stories, and photos that trace the arc of my voice, vision, and expression.
I keep creativity because it shows me I am ever expanding.

I keep myself.
Boxes of journals spanning decades—the raw and real record of my becoming.
I keep them because I value my human experience.

Boxes of wisdom.
Letters of love.
Journals of a life well-lived.

What we keep isn’t clutter—it’s memory, meaning, and a sense of self.

A Move of House, A Movement of the Soul

Cleaning, clearing, packing, and unpacking—it’s exhausting, yes.
But it’s also sacred.

If you’re not moving house, move a drawer.
Move a shelf.
Move something stagnant and see what it reveals.

Anchors and wings live in every room. This act of clearing reminds me that tidying can be a task—or a portal. A spiritual sifting. A sorting of the soul.

What we hold tells the story of who we’ve been.
What we release shapes who we are becoming.

This move—perhaps more than any before—has shown me what matters. And while I will always treasure the tangible, I now long for lighter ways to honor all I love.

Because I want to fly.
And flight requires loosening the anchor.

P.S. What do you keep—and why?
Open a drawer. Hold something in your hands. Let it tell you what matters.
